In the course of more than 30 years of activities of the AWA and the AJWRC, several groups to work for specific critical issues including the “comfort women” issues and migrant women issues have emerged. AJWRC works closely with these sister organizations as well as other women’s groups and civil groups.
Machiya Japanese Class provides a space with women and men of foreign origins to learn Japanese and to share information.
Emerged from AJWRC’s workshop, Video Juku works for documenting women’s lives.
●VAWW RAC (Formerly known as Violence Against Women in War Network (VAWW-Net Japan))
Formed in 1998, VAWW-Net Japan is working on Japanese sexual military slavery issues.
●Women’s Active Museum on War and Peace (wam)
The wam was founded by the will of Yayori as a private museum to convey the facts of wartime violence against women with a feminist lens.
Founded by the will of Yayori Matsui, the Award encourages women activists, journalists, and artists who work at the grassroots level with socially marginalized peoples in order to create a 21st century free from war and discrimination against women.
